Las Vegas Police Search for Missing Dancer: Deborah "Debbie" Flores-Narvaez

LAS VEGAS -- A performer on the Las Vegas Strip disappeared Sunday and hasn't been seen since. Thirty-one-year-old Deborah "Debbie" Flores-Narvaez didn't show up for rehearsal Sunday or for her show Monday.

Flores-Narvaez was last seen leaving the Onyx Apartments, where she lives. She moved to Las Vegas roughly two years ago to pursue a dancing career. According to her Facebook page, she has a law degree from the University of Baltimore and is a former Washington Redskins cheerleader. She is a native of Puerto Rico. Friends and family say she kept herself busy. She was a go-go girl at the Palms and danced in the Luxor's Fantasy show.

Debbie's father Carlos Flores says emotions are high. "It comes as a shock to the family," he said. "I try and shed the tears and all of that, and was sad, and didn't speak for quite a bit."

He says his daughter, who holds a master's degree and worked in the financial industry before performing in Las Vegas, would never leave home like this.

"They had a rehearsal, and I believe from a roommate that was informing me, that they were going to do another rehearsal," he said. "She just said, ‘We'll see you tonight,' and that was it. The other part that I hear is her ex-boyfriend saw her around 7:30, 8 p.m., stopped by quickly to his place or his apartment, and she mentioned she was on her way back home."

Debbie was also taking ballroom dancing classes. Her instructor says it is unlike her to be late or not show up. He calls her disappearance heartbreaking.

"It is just like losing one of the family," said Lupe Martinez. "When one of your family members is missing, you want to make sure that they're ok. So everybody is really worried right now and hopefully she's found safe."

Most of her family is in Atlanta, Georgia. Her sister says she is going to catch a flight to Las Vegas Friday.

"It is hard when you can't do something and you don't know where somebody is. It is hard when you can't talk to them -- can't communicate. It is hard when you can't pick up the phone and say, 'Hey, what are you doing?' It is hard when it is your sister. It is hard when it is someone you love," said Celeste Flores-Navarez.

As Debbie's family members plead for her safe return, they also face the awful possibility they may never see her alive again.

"We're hoping for the best positive, but we also have to be prepared for the worst. So, it won't be double shock," Carlos Flores said. Mr. Flores says the last time the family spoke with Debbie, nothing seemed wrong or unusual.

Flores-Narvaez is 5 feet, five inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Police say she drives a maroon, four-door, 1997 Chevrolet Prism with Maryland license plates 73547CD.

2. Call Kanye West, like, NOW


In case you haven't noticed, 'Ye is about to be busy. Real busy. With his new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, dropping next month, he's gonna be on every TV station, radio channel and Web site soon. Before he is, put the bug in his ear that you're looking for a contribution for Lasers. If that doesn't get Atlantic excited about putting your project out, we don't know what will.


3. Drop a mixtape. Immediately.


Last year's Enemy of the State mixtape was dope. Only problem? It was like 20 minutes long. So, um, no offense, Lupe, but 20 minutes isn't enough to hold today's ran fans over for a day—let alone 10 months. Get some new music out and get it out right away.


4. Stop participating in supergroups


Child Rebel Soldier (a group comprised of Lupe, Pharrell and Kanye) and All-City Chess Club (boasting Lupe, B.o.B, Asher Roth and more) both sound like cool projects. But, yo: It's taken you three years to get Atlantic to release your next solo album. Do you really think Atlantic—or any other record label, for that matter—is going to put out an album by either of those two supergroups anytime soon? Yeah, we don't think so. So stay focused on your solo career. At least, for now.


5. Repair your image on the rap blogs


We're not sure if you know this or not, but most of the rap blogs seem to hate you. You don't seem to care, which is cool, but in today's hip-hop culture, you need the blogs to love you (or, at the very least, to blog about you!) in order to be successful. That's just the way it is. If you can't stand a particular blogger, you don't have to cater to him or her. But find a couple you do like and serve them up some fresh material. (P.S. If you want RapFix to do it, just say the word!)


6. Embrace your leaked records


No rapper wants their new songs leaked onto the Internet. It'd be crazy to try and convince you or any other rapper to be happy about it. But if it happens, it happens. Rather than throwing dirt on your own songs or chastising the world when a record leaks, accept it and move on. That's what we call free publicity, sir.


7. Be open to trying everything to land on a hit single


You passed over on B.o.B's "Nothin' On You." Cool, you weren't feeling it. But be open to doing whatever you can to find a hit that'll propel your album into the next stratosphere. That doesn't mean you have to sell yourself out or work with someone you don't want to. But if you're not gonna do that, think outside the box to land on a single that'll make you proud.


8. Take cues from your labelmate B.o.B.


Speaking of B.o.B, look no further than B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray to hear how you can make the album you want to and keep your label happy. B.o.B might have a few songs on there that you wouldn't necessarily record, but it's safe to say he's also got plenty of songs on there that he truly wanted to release to the world. Use that as your blueprint.


9. Appreciate your old fans—but try to find some new ones


You have a diesel fan base. Kids were willing to sign a petition and even take time out of their busy lives to come and protest on your behalf. You need to keep them around. But you also need to branch out and realize that not everyone is happy with the way you've handled your label politics. Do whatever it takes to get them back on your side through your music.


10. Keep rapping your ass off


Good music trumps everything. So whether you drop a mixtape tomorrow or start recording a couple freestyles every week, use your voice to give yourself a voice in the hip-hop community. If you do that, Lasers will shine brightly.

Corporate garbage pushing plastic lifestyles and wasteful, destructive behavior into the brains of the youth of the world. So when your relevance thins in2 a whisper & the stock price collapses and you have 2 come 2 grips with the mess you made. I’ll be here 4 ya. We’ll be here. With hands full of baby powder 2 smack some sense back into your body & a warm shoulder to cry on. We want the REAL MTV back!

Check out Kanye's official album cover for "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" due out November 22.

Clearly this has the blogger world going crazy!

He raises a good point about how covers were in the 60s and 70s. ARTist of a Kanye caliber were often really allowed to express themselves through all aspects of the album from the image and music selection down to the cover. Thing is Kanye a lot of things were different back then...like drugs being legal. So I imagine there may be two versions of the album released. Let's see how this turns out. We saw what happened with the controversy over Nas' title "Nigger" retitled as "N" after much debate. Keep checking back.

Ok so I'm gonna pull a SERIOUS blogger move and speculate based on a picture. This isn't fact based information or anything but I'm gonna run away with the idea of starting a positive rumor as opposed to the negative kinds. Is it possible that Mr.West, Lenny Kravits, Bono, and Edge are all working collectively on a new record?? Why not? Kanye can, and has, pretty much do it all, so why not?? I wouldn't even know what a record from the four would sound like but personally I'm sure I'd enjoy. Peep the picture of the four in Paris.
